AI Addendum
Last updated: May 2026
1. Purpose
This AI Addendum supplements the Master Service Agreement and Data Processing Agreement between CommunityLauncher and the Client. It governs the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities within the community platform, establishes data handling commitments, and defines Client controls over AI-powered features.
2. AI Features and Capabilities
CommunityLauncher may incorporate AI-powered features into the platform, which may include:
- Smart Matching: Algorithmic pairing of community members based on interests, goals, or complementary profiles
- Content Moderation: Automated detection of spam, harmful content, or policy violations
- Recommendation Engines: Personalized content, event, or connection suggestions for members
- Analytics Insights: Pattern recognition in engagement data to surface actionable community health metrics
- Natural Language Processing: Summarization, categorization, or translation of community content
- Automated Responses: AI-assisted responses to common member inquiries (when explicitly enabled by the Client)
AI features are modular and are only activated when explicitly selected by the Client. No AI processing occurs without Client authorization.
3. Data Usage for AI
When AI features are enabled, CommunityLauncher processes platform data as follows:
- Input Data: Data submitted to AI features (e.g., member profiles for matching, posts for moderation) is processed solely to produce the intended output for that specific Client platform
- Output Data: AI-generated outputs (recommendations, moderation decisions, insights) are the property of the Client and are stored within the Client's platform instance
- Processing Scope: AI processing is limited to the Client's own data. Data from one Client is never combined with or influenced by data from another Client
4. No Model Training on Client Data
CommunityLauncher does not use Client data, community member data, or platform content to train, fine-tune, or improve general-purpose AI or machine learning models. Client data is processed for inference only (i.e., to generate specific outputs for the Client's platform). This commitment extends to all third-party AI providers engaged by CommunityLauncher. Our agreements with AI providers explicitly prohibit use of input or output data for model training or improvement.
5. Third-Party AI Providers
Where AI features rely on third-party model providers, CommunityLauncher ensures:
- All AI providers are listed on our Subprocessors page
- Data processing agreements are in place with each provider
- Providers are contractually prohibited from using input/output data for model training
- Data sent to providers is minimized to only what is necessary for the specific feature
- Where possible, data is anonymized or pseudonymized before transmission to AI providers
6. Client Control and Opt-Out
Clients retain full control over AI features:
- Activation: AI features are opt-in. No AI processing occurs unless the Client explicitly enables a specific feature
- Deactivation: Any AI feature can be disabled at any time through the admin dashboard, with immediate effect
- Granular Control: Individual AI capabilities can be enabled or disabled independently
- Member Transparency: Clients are responsible for informing their community members about AI features in use, and CommunityLauncher provides template disclosures for this purpose
- Member Opt-Out: Where technically feasible, Clients may configure member-level opt-outs for personalization and recommendation features
7. Data Retention for AI
Data processed by AI features is handled as follows:
- Input Data: Retained within the Client's platform for the duration of the subscription. When an AI feature is disabled, associated processing ceases immediately
- Output Data: Retained within the platform until the Client deletes it or the subscription terminates
- Processing Logs: Logs of AI operations (for debugging and audit purposes) are retained for 90 days, then automatically purged
- Termination: Upon termination of the agreement, all AI-processed data is included in the standard data export and deletion procedures outlined in the DPA
8. Accuracy and Limitations
AI features provide outputs based on probabilistic models and may not always produce perfectly accurate results. CommunityLauncher does not warrant that AI outputs will be error-free. Clients acknowledge that AI-powered content moderation should be supplemented with human review for critical decisions, AI-generated recommendations are suggestions and do not constitute professional advice, and matching algorithms optimize for disclosed criteria but cannot guarantee subjective satisfaction.
9. Compliance and Ethics
CommunityLauncher is committed to responsible AI use:
- AI features are designed to avoid discriminatory outcomes and are regularly reviewed for bias
- We do not use AI to make consequential decisions about individuals without human oversight
- We comply with applicable AI regulations and will adapt our practices as the regulatory landscape evolves
- Clients may request information about the logic involved in AI features affecting their community members
10. Modifications
CommunityLauncher may update this AI Addendum as AI capabilities and regulations evolve. Material changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance. If changes materially expand the scope of AI processing, existing Clients must affirmatively opt in to the expanded capabilities.
